There is a moment we keep coming back to from this wedding. Raluca and Dominic on their backs in a mountain meadow, in the middle of everything a wedding day demands of two people, having decided that for a few minutes none of it existed. Just the two of them, the grass, the mountains going dark above the town. Nothing to manage. Nowhere to be.

That is who they are. And a wedding always becomes the people at its center.

We photographed a day that never once slowed down for us and never needed to. Dominic is the kind of person who ends up on a rope swing in a suit with two of his friends, all three of them holding on and pretending this is dignified. Nobody planned that. Nobody plans anything worth photographing. Our job is simply to be there when it happens, and to be invisible enough that it happens at all.

The ceremony was outdoors, a violinist playing toward the guests, the Bucegi mountains somewhere behind the clouds. But the setting was never the point. The point was two people who cried and laughed at the same time and did not try to hide either.

Weddings like this one belong as much to the guests as to the couple. Children everywhere, welcomed rather than tolerated. Friends who held on to each other. A grown man on the floor of the ballroom with children laughing over him. Dominic lifted on a chair under the painted arches of the castle. Raluca finding a friend in the crowd and disappearing into an embrace. Love moving in every direction, landing on everyone.

We spent the day watching it move.

And then, at the end, they danced. Not for anyone. His eyes closed, her head on his shoulder, the noise of the whole day finally somewhere else.

Raluca and Dominic did not give us a wedding to cover. They gave us a celebration to stand inside for a day.

We will not forget it. This is the story we felt.
