Wedding photographer at
Château de la Bourdaisière

Château de la Bourdaisière sits between Tours and Amboise, a Renaissance château from the time of François Ier, famous for its rose garden and its extraordinary conservatory of tomatoes. Gabrielle d'Estrées, mistress of Henri IV, was born here. It is one of the Loire Valley houses we would most love to photograph.

From our own weddings. We have not yet photographed here, and we would love to.

The château

The château goes back to the time of François Ier and has belonged to the de Broglie family for generations. It is as well known for its gardens as its history: a rose garden, and a nationally renowned kitchen garden holding more than five hundred varieties of tomato, unique in the world.

A three star hotel today, with thirty-one rooms across the château and grounds, it hosts weddings from an evening to a full weekend, fifteen kilometres from both Tours and Amboise.

Why la Bourdaisière suits the way we work

The Bourdaisière is a living garden as much as a château. The boxwood terrace clipped into fleur-de-lys, the rose garden, the Italian perspective, all of it gives a documentary photographer room to work outdoors, in colour and in season.

The vaulted François Ier hall seats up to three hundred under bare stone, and the grounds take an outdoor altar. It suits couples who want the Loire Valley at its most storied, without the stiffness of a palace.

Where your day photographs

The fleur-de-lys terrace

Boxwood clipped into the royal emblem, the château's signature view. It carries a wide portrait and an arrival beautifully.

The rose garden and kitchen garden

Colour through the season, and the famous tomato conservatory behind it, a background you will find at no other venue.

The vaulted François Ier hall

Three hundred and twenty square metres of bare stone, three hundred seated. Candlelight and stone, a room made for the evening.

The Italian perspective

A long garden axis for the couple portraits, best walked slowly at golden hour.

The chapel

Small, for around twenty, intimate enough that every face is close.

How we would photograph your day

We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging the facade, no asking anyone to do it again.

We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of the venue and a record of your day.
