Wedding photographer at
Château d'Artigny

Château d'Artigny, above the Indre valley near Montbazon, is a Belle Époque palace the perfumer François Coty built to outshine Versailles. Marble, painted ceilings, formal gardens falling away to the river. Of all the grand houses of the Touraine, it is one we would love to photograph.

From our own weddings. We have not yet photographed here, and we would love to.

The château

Coty was the master perfumer of the Belle Époque, and Artigny was his statement. He built it in the eighteenth century style at the start of the twentieth, and spared nothing: rose and green marbles, a rotunda painted in trompe-l'oeil by Charles Hoffbauer, a chapel modelled on Versailles.

Today it is a five star hotel of fifty-six rooms, fifteen kilometres from Tours, its twenty-five hectares of French gardens laid out along the Indre. It hosts weddings of up to three hundred guests when taken in full.

Why Artigny suits the way we work

Artigny is a five star hotel, and that shapes how a wedding here has to be photographed. The protocol is real, the rooms are formal, and the beauty is in the detail: polished Lens marble, sculpted woodwork, the painted rotunda. We work quietly inside that, never rearranging it, letting the grandeur sit behind the people rather than swallow them.

It suits a large, elegant celebration, up to three hundred guests in full exclusivity, and a couple who love a sense of occasion. Our job there is to keep the day human, to find the private glance in the middle of all that marble.

Where your day photographs

The neo-classical façade

Symmetrical, pale, dominating the Indre valley. It photographs best in the low light of late afternoon, when the stone warms and the shadows lengthen across the terraces.

The painted rotunda

Hoffbauer's polychrome trompe-l'oeil ceiling on the first floor, a ready-made frame for a first look or a quiet moment away from the guests.

The Régence grand salon

Period woodwork, the room where a seated dinner for a hundred and forty unfolds. We light it for the faces, not the gilding.

The French gardens

Twenty-five hectares along the river, terraces and long perspectives for the couple portraits and the golden hour.

The Versailles chapel

Intimate and ornate, for a blessing or an exchange of vows before the reception opens up.

How we would photograph your day

We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging the facade, no asking anyone to do it again.

We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of the venue and a record of your day.
