Wedding photographer at
Château de Curzay
Château de Curzay is one of the finest venues within easy reach of home, an eighteenth-century château once called the Petit Versailles, set in a hundred and twenty hectares of park, woodland and river, half an hour from Lencloître. If you are marrying here, this is what two documentary photographers would bring to your day.
Why Curzay suits the way we work
The château is a house, not a hotel, and it keeps that feeling: a family home on a grand scale, a Relais & Châteaux for thirty years, given over entirely to you and your guests. Around it, an English-style park laid out by the Bühler brothers rolls down to the Vonne, a hundred and twenty hectares of lawns, old trees, woodland and water with no one else in sight.
With rooms for around thirty of your closest people and up to a hundred and thirty at the table, it suits an intimate celebration that unfolds over a whole weekend, from the chapel to the pool. That slow rhythm, the mornings in the house, the late light on the water, the quiet between the moments, is exactly where documentary photography does its best work.
Where your day photographs
The château facade
The eighteenth-century house once called the Petit Versailles, warm stone and tall windows, at its best in low evening light.
The Bühler park
A hundred and twenty hectares of English-style parkland laid out by the Bühler brothers, old trees and open lawns for the portraits.
The Vonne
The river runs through the estate, still water and reflections, for a quiet moment away from the party.
The chapel
A private chapel on the grounds, for an intimate ceremony.
The pool
For the celebration that runs late, from the chapel to the pool party.
How we would photograph your day
We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging the facade, no asking anyone to do it again.
We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of the venue and a record of your day.
