Château de Jallanges rises from the Vouvray vineyards near Vernou-sur-Brenne, a Renaissance house with a formal French parterre and ten hectares of park ringed by forest. For a documentary photographer it gives two registers at once: grand, high-ceilinged rooms for the evening and clipped gardens that hold the low light. One of the Loire Valley houses we would love to photograph.

The château
A Renaissance château that has run receptions for close to forty years, Jallanges sits in the Vouvray appellation between Amboise and Tours. Its ten-hectare park opens into twenty-five more of forest, and it sleeps up to a hundred and forty-five on the estate, so the wedding lives here across the weekend.
Why Jallanges suits the way we work
Jallanges works at scale without losing the close frame. The parterre and the roseraie are clean, formal backdrops for the couple in the late afternoon; the forest behind the park is where we take them for the quiet ten minutes away from everyone.
The Banneret hall carries a large seated dinner and the dancing, high-volume and open, which for two photographers means we can work opposite angles all evening without ever being in each other's frame.

Clipped box and gravel walks, a formal frame that holds the low gold light of late afternoon for the portraits.

The five-hundred-square-metre reception hall, high ceilings, for the dinner and the dancing, with room for two photographers to shoot opposite angles.

Ten hectares opening into twenty-five of forest, where we take the couple for the quiet frames away from the party.
How we would photograph your day
We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging the facade, no asking anyone to do it again.
We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of the venue and a record of your day.
Getting there, and what it costs
Jallanges is about an hour away, in the Vouvray vineyards. We live in Lencloître, in the Vienne, and travel to weddings in the Vienne and the Loire Valley is included in our packages, with no surcharge.
Our packages start at 3,190 €, both photographers for the full day, all edited images included.

The Banneret hall seats up to five hundred, with a two-hundred-seat hall alongside; the estate takes anything from an intimate thirty to a very large wedding.
Is there an outdoor ceremony spot at Jallanges?+
Yes, a secular ceremony can be set at the garden altar, the parterre and forest behind the vows. There is no chapel on site.

Yes. Rooms, apartments, gîtes and a loft sleep up to a hundred and forty-five on the estate, so the day can run across a weekend.
