Wedding photographer at
Château de Nitray

Château de Nitray stands at Athée-sur-Cher, near Montlouis between Amboise and Chenonceau, a Renaissance historic monument on a working AOC Touraine vineyard. Its thirty-three-hectare English park looks over the Cher valley, and the vines run to the horizon. For a documentary photographer the vineyard and the valley are the frame. One of the Loire Valley houses we would love to photograph.

From our own weddings. We have not yet photographed here, and we would love to.

The château

A Renaissance historic monument, Nitray has been a working wine estate since the eighteenth century, its AOC Touraine wines largely organic. The château sits in a thirty-three-hectare English park above the Cher, eighteen kilometres from Tours.

Why Nitray suits the way we work

Nitray gives a photographer the vineyard rows and the Cher valley for the portraits, the château courtyard for the arrival, and the Salle François Ier for the evening, terracotta floor for the dinner, parquet for the dancing. The estate's own wine is on the table.

It takes twenty to two hundred and fifty across a modular set of rooms, with a chapel in the north towers and a sixteenth century hunting pavilion to stay in. Fifteen minutes from the Saint-Pierre-des-Corps TGV, it is easy for guests.

Where your day photographs

The vineyard and Cher valley

Rows of AOC Touraine vines and the river valley below, the signature backdrop for the portraits at the end of the day.

La Salle François Ier

A hundred and fifty square metres, terracotta underfoot for the dinner and parquet for the dancing, up to a hundred and fifty seated.

The courtyard and gardens

The château court for the arrival and the group, the English park opening behind.

The chapel in the north towers

A chapel set in the towers, intimate stone for a blessing or the vows.

How we would photograph your day

We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging the facade, no asking anyone to do it again.

We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of the venue and a record of your day.
