Saint Victor La Grand' Maison is not a château but a private hamlet, a fifteenth century manor above the river Anglin with six independent houses gathered around it. Anglophile, intimate, endlessly photographed by French Wedding Style. And barely an hour from home.

The château
The manor overlooks the Anglin from a wooded slope, first recorded at the end of the fourteenth century and restored in the 1830s. The gothic abbey of Saint-Savin, a UNESCO site, is nine kilometres away, and the gothic church of Mérigny four.
The estate lets on a free-management basis, six houses and three bed-and-breakfast rooms sleeping around thirty, for up to a hundred and fifty guests. It sits between the Berry and the Poitou, two hours from Paris.
Why Saint Victor suits the way we work
This is a family-house wedding, not a grand one, and that is the register documentary photography loves most. Six independent houses mean the guests actually live together for the weekend, and the pictures fill up with the small, unguarded life between the set-piece moments.
It draws British and international couples who want France quietly, without spectacle. A four hundred year old oak by the river, a barn for the dinner, a modern space for the dancing. Everything here is built around closeness.

How we would photograph your day
We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging the facade, no asking anyone to do it again.
We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of the venue and a record of your day.
Getting there, and what it costs
Saint Victor is under an hour away, on the edge of the Berry. We live in Lencloître, in the Vienne, and travel to weddings in the Vienne and the Loire Valley is included in our packages, with no surcharge.
