Wedding photographer
in Vouvray

Vouvray, in the vineyards just east of Tours, is the most-chosen wedding-château commune in the whole of the Touraine, ahead of Amboise or Tours itself. Glass-roofed halls, troglodyte cellars cut into the tufa, formal parterres. For two documentary photographers it is a zone of extraordinary light, and one we would love to work in.

What makes Vouvray unusual for a photographer is the range of light in a small radius: a verrière hall floods with daylight for the dinner, then the wedding moves into a candlelit tufa cave a few steps away. We shoot the two like different films in one day.

It sits about an hour from home, firmly in the Loire Valley we cover with no travel surcharge, and the estates here court French and international couples alike, in the vines between Amboise and Tours.

How we work

We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging, no asking anyone to do it again.

We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of a place and a record of your day.

Frequently asked questions

Can you marry in a troglodyte cave at Vouvray?+

Yes. Several Vouvray estates, Domaine des Bidaudières among them, hold receptions in authentic tufa caves cut into the rock, warm and candlelit for the evening.

Why is Vouvray good for wedding photography?+

A rare range of light in a small area: daylight-flooded glass halls, dim tufa cellars, and vineyard rows for the golden-hour portraits, often within one estate.

Do you cover Vouvray weddings without a travel charge?+

Yes. Vouvray is about an hour from Lencloître, in the Loire Valley, and travel there is included in our packages.
