in Orléans
Orléans sits at the head of the Loire, where the river turns west toward the great châteaux. Around it the Sologne opens up: forest, lakes and a dense cluster of wedding châteaux that draw French and international couples alike. If you are marrying near Orléans, here is the ground and the venues we would bring to it.
The Loiret is one of the busiest wedding-château markets in France, and almost none of it happens in the city itself. It happens in the Sologne just south, at estates like les Muids, la Ferté-Saint-Aubin and Villette, where a family takes a whole domaine for the weekend, and in the Orléanais to the west and north, at Chamerolles with its Renaissance gardens or the Bézy a quarter of an hour out of town.
We came to weddings from photojournalism, and this is exactly the register we work in: a long day at a private estate, families arriving from across France and abroad, everything unposed. We are based in the Vienne and travel to the Loiret readily. Here are the venues around Orléans we would most love to photograph.
Venues we cover in Orléans
La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, a four star château in thirty-three hectares at the gates of the Sologne.
A romantic Sologne château on forty hectares, with gîtes for a weekend wedding.
Chaingy, fifteen minutes west of Orléans, crystal chandeliers and a wooded park.
A Renaissance monument with famous perfume gardens and a glass reception hall.
Ménestreau-en-Villette, a fifty hectare Sologne estate with thirty years of weddings.
Saint-Laurent-Nouan, a bohemian chic domaine with a ceremony facing the wheat fields.
How we work
We came to weddings from photojournalism. We observe, we anticipate, we capture what happens without interrupting it. No posing, no staging, no asking anyone to do it again.
We always work as two. While one of us is at the ceremony, the other is watching the faces. That second pair of eyes is the difference between a record of a place and a record of your day.
